News / CBP Arrests Man Wanted on Narcotics Charge at Montana Port of Entry

Sweetgrass, Mont. – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Sweetgrass, Mont. port of entry today arrested a Canadian man who was listed as a fugitive two days before.


The Sweetgrass CBP officers were conducting a routine inspection of a traveler applying for entry into the U.S., Jeffrey North Piegan, when they discovered a warrant from the U.S. Marshals Service for trafficking in narcotics. The Marshals Service confirmed the warrant was valid and CBP officers took the suspect into custody and transported him to the Crossroads Correctional Facility in Shelby, Mont.


Sweetgrass Area Port Director Larry Overcast said “Our increased vigilance and thoroughness is resulting in the apprehension of more individuals attempting to enter into the United States through our ports of entry. I am proud of the work our officers here in Montana perform every day on behalf of the American people."
