Douglas, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they seized more than 160 pounds of marijuana concealed in a vehicle belonging to a woman from Tucson, Ariz.

On January 30 at about 7:40 a.m. CBP officers at the Douglas port of entry were screening travelers and vehicles when they came in contact with a 21-year-old woman driving a 2003 Ford Expedition. The woman was identified as a United States citizen and resident of Tucson. The CBP officers selected the vehicle for inspection.

With the assistance of a special trained K-9 Team the vehicle was searched by CBP officers. It was discovered that the doors, the quarter panels, the center console, the roof, and the dash were all loaded with packages of marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was more than 160 pounds with an estimated street value of $360,000.

CBP officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The woman was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
