News / CBP Officers at Naco Port Find $105,000 in Marijuana Concealed in Vehicle Floor

Naco, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a marijuana smuggling attempt when they seized $105,000 of marijuana concealed in a false floor of a vehicle.


On Thursday, October 15 at about 10:30 a.m., CBP officers became suspicious of a 1996 Dodge Ram driven by a 26-year-old man. The man was identified as a Mexican national and resident of Sonora, Mexico.

Using a high-tech detection device, the CBP officers discovered that a false compartment had been constructed in the floor of the vehicle. Further inspection revealed approximately 65 pounds of marijuana concealed in the compartment. The marijuana had an estimated street value of $105,000.


CBP officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The Sonora man was turned over to the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
