News / CBP Officers in Alexandria Bay Locate 3 Missing TeensAlexandria Bay, N.Y. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection Field Operations announced the encounter and safe return of three missing South Carolina teenagers at the Alexandria Bay port of entry.On Tuesday, April 6, CBP officers encountered three teenagers that had been refused entry into Canada. Two males and one female, all 16 years old, were driving one of their parent’s vehicles when encountered. CBP officers conducted database queries and discovered all three were reported as missing from Horry County, S.C. CBP made contact with the teens’ parents and with law enforcement agencies in South Carolina to advise them of their location and that they were in protective custody. New York State Police Troopers responded to the port of entry to assume custody and safe return of the missing teens. “CBP’s main mission is to prevent terrorists and their weapons from entering the United States, however we are always ready to assist local and state authorities in situations such as this by locating missing persons and ensuring their ultimate safe return to friends and family,” said Randy Howe, CBP assistant director of Field Operations for the Buffalo Field Office. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/news_releases/local/04072010_2.xml |
