News / CBP Officers Seize Marijuana Concealed in Furniture at Douglas Port of Entry

Douglas, Ariz. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a marijuana smuggling attempt when they seized $348,000 of marijuana concealed in furniture.


Yesterday at about 6:36 p.m. CBP officers became suspicious of a 2002 Chevy 1500 pick-up that was carrying new furniture. The pick-up was being driven by a 20-year-old man from El Paso, Texas. CBP officers searched the vehicle with a specialized K-9 team and discovered packages concealed in the base of the furniture.


CBP officers seized more than 200 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $ 348,000.


CBP officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The El Paso man was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for questioning.
