News / ICE Miami dive team assists Miramar PD recover alleged murder weapon

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents assigned to the ICE Tactical Dive Team (TDT) on Tuesday recovered from a lake the alleged handgun used in a recent double murder. Miramar Police Department asked ICE to help with the underwater search for a weapon possibly used in the Oct. 2 double homicide of 17-year-old Stephanie Rabsatt and her unborn child at a Winn-Dixie parking lot in Miramar, Fla.

"The ICE Tactical Dive Team (TDT) in South Florida is one of the few certified dive teams in the nation that assists law enforcement agencies in efforts in protecting public safety," said Anthony V. Mangione, special agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Miami. "Our partnerships with local law enforcement are essential in carrying out our shared mission in removing from the streets individuals who pose a threat to our communities."

On Oct. 7, Miramar Police Detectives arrested Edward Jermaine Babbs, the father of the unborn child, and charged him with two counts of murder in the first degree for the death of Stephanie Rabsatt and her unborn son. Rabsatt's body was discovered in a vehicle parked at the Winn-Dixie Plaza parking lot at 6301 Southwest 41st St. on Oct. 2. Rabsatt died as a result of gunshot wounds
