NEWS / Camden Man Indicted on First-Degree Cocaine Charge

TRENTON – Acting Attorney General Paula T. Dow and Criminal Justice Director Stephen J. Taylor announced that a Camden man was indicted today for allegedly possessing a kilogram of cocaine that he intended to sell.

According to Director Taylor, Marvin Mosley, 35, of Camden, was indicted by a Camden County grand jury on charges of first-degree possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and third-degree possession of cocaine. The indictment is the result of a joint investigation by the Division of Criminal Justice, Camden Police Department, Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office and New Jersey State Police.

On July 6, 2009, the investigating agencies, assisted by the New Jersey State Police Technical Emergency and Mission Specialists (TEAMS) Unit, executed a search warrant at Mosley’s home in the 600 block of Randolph Street in Camden. Detectives allegedly found a kilo of powder cocaine wrapped in a large plastic bag and approximately 4.5 ounces of crack cocaine in a knotted sandwich bag. Both bags were in a toilet in an upstairs bathroom.

First-degree charges carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in state prison and a criminal fine of $200,000. The indictment is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Deputy Attorney General Jill S. Mayer presented the case to the grand jury for the Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau.

The investigation was led by Detective Peppi Pichette and Detective Andrea Salvantini of the Division of Criminal Justice Gangs & Organized Crime Bureau and Detective Mike Ruiz of the Camden Police Department.
