NEWS / CBP Intercepts Impostors, Subjects With Altered Documents

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood international airport intercepted a subject attempting to enter the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program who was an impostor to a French passport.

At Miami international airport CBP officers intercepted another impostor who attempted to enter the U.S. by presenting a Guatemalan passport and a U.S. resident card. Impostors may use several different means to conceal their identities some will change their hair color and style while others borrow documents from family members who bear a resemblance to them.

Officers at Miami International also intercepted four other subjects who had altered or obtained fraudulent entry stamps in order to conceal the amount of time that they spent in the U.S. on their last visit. Subjects who overstay their period of admission and then attempt to conceal that time by fraudulent means can also face prosecution by CBP enforcement officers. CBP officers use a combination of their training and experience coupled with biometric identifiers and electronic systems to thwart those who attempt to enter the U.S. by fraudulent means.

“Our officers are constantly on alert for any circumstances that are out of the ordinary and their hard work and dedication protect our homeland from all manner of threats” said Harold Woodward, director of Field Operations in Miami for U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
