NEWS / CBP Officers at Hidalgo/Reynosa Bridge Apprehend Fugitive Wanted in Minnesota and by U.S. Marshals

Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge arrested a fugitive wanted by the State of Minnesota and by the U.S. Marshals Service.

On September 19, CBP officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge came in contact with a northbound male traveler. The traveler was accompanied by his 7-year-old daughter. After the initial primary inspection, the father and daughter were referred to secondary for an intensive examination. In secondary, a check of a CBP database revealed that the traveler, identified as Kenneth Edward Watson, a U.S. citizen, age 45 from Duluth, Minn., was the subject of three outstanding arrest warrants.

Two of the three warrants indicated that Watson was wanted by the State of Minnesota for a state charge of possession of a controlled substance and for probation violation. The third warrant indicated that Watson was wanted by the United States Marshals Service for a federal charge of probation violation. After his arrest, Watson was transferred to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service, McAllen, Texas. The daughter was transferred to representatives from the State of Texas Child Protective Services.

Hector A. Mancha, CBP port director, Hidalgo/Pharr said, “Our officers continue to access our databases to screen travelers as they arrive at our international crossings.” Mancha further said, “This is a great example of our officers doing their work to secure our nation’s borders.”
