NEWS / CBP Officers in Arizona Find Marijuana in Quarter Panels


Douglas, Ariz. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a drug smuggling attempt when they seized nearly 14 pounds of marijuana concealed in the front quarter panels of a vehicle.

On February 6 at about 5 p.m. CBP officers at the Douglas port of entry were screening travelers and vehicles when they came in contact with a 26-year-old woman driving a The woman was identified as a Mexican national and resident of Agua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico.


The CBP officers became suspicious of the woman and selected her for further inspection. With the assistance of a special trained K-9 team, CBP officers searched the vehicle and discovered that the quarter panels of the vehicle were loaded with packages of marijuana. The total weight of marijuana was a nearly 14 pounds with an estimated street value of $31,000.


CBP officers seized the vehicle and marijuana. The woman was turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.
