NEWS / CBP Officers Seize $100K of Ecstasy at Ambassador Bridge

Detroit - CBP officers working at the Detroit Ambassador Bridge Tuesday seized approximately 53 pounds of PCP-laced Ecstasy with a street value in excess of $100,000.

At about 1 a.m., two individuals in a Canadian-plated vehicle arrived at the Ambassador Bridge and declared that they were entering the U.S. to go to Atlanta for a week of shopping and vacation. The CBP officer at primary became suspicious after a brief interaction and determined the individuals needed further inspection.

Once in CBP’s secondary inspection area, officers used a fiber optic scope and found what appeared to be plastic bags inside one of the quarter panels. They also discovered plastic bags hidden in the opposite quarter panel. Officers removed several plastic bags containing colored pills from the vehicle, tested the pills and identified them as Methylendioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA. The inspection resulted in the seizure of approximately 75,812 individual pills.

CBP officers arrested the two subjects, Shennelly Finn, and Lashawna Morgan, both 24-year-old females and Canadian citizens and turned them over to Homeland Security Investigation Special Agents for further investigation and prosecution.

“The CBP Officers conducting the primary inspection of this vehicle used his training and experience to observe and recognize that something was not right about this vehicle,” said Director of Field Operations Christopher Perry. “Thanks to the vigilance and dedication of our officers, these pills will not make it onto our streets and into our neighborhoods.”
