NEWS / Lincoln Man Sentenced for Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine

United States Attorney Deborah R. Gilg announced that on February 10, 2012, Eric Terrelle Holmes, 34, of Lincoln, was sentenced to 33 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Following the prison term, Holmes will serve three years on supervised release. He was also ordered to forfeit $7,500 to the United States of America.

On March 2, 2011, officers served a search warrant at Holmes’s Lincoln residence. Holmes was found in possession of three baggies which contained a total of 5.23 grams of a substance which tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. During the search, officers found items consistent with the use and distribution of methamphetamine. Holmes admitted to using and selling methamphetamine. On March 11, 2011, Lincoln Police officers obtained a seizure warrant for the $7,500 which had been posted as bond for Holmes in Lancaster County Court on state charges after further investigation indicated that the cash was related to Holmes’s distribution of methamphetamine. Holmes’s state charges were dismissed after he was indicted and had his first appearance on federal charges in May of 2011.

This case was investigated by the Lincoln/Lancaster County Narcotics Task Force which includes the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department, University of Nebraska-Lincoln Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistance in this matter was also provided by the Lancaster County Attorney’s Office.
