NEWS / Nomination of Notaries Example of Corruption

The criteria by which 66 notaries were nominated does not match the criteria of Europe, but with the Balkan gorge, said Anticevic-Marinovic.

ZAGREB, CROATIA - Member of the SDP (Social Democratic Party), Ingrid Anticevic-Marinovic this morning accused minister of justice, Ana Lovrin, due to the non-transparent nomination of notaries at the time of the technical cabinet.

In January, at the time of the technical cabinet, 66 new public notaries were nominated, after the first time independents were announced in Croatia. Minister Lovrin answered back, and stressed that the nomination of the notaries was carried out completely according to the law.

- 230 candidates applied for 66 vacancies. Everyone satisfied the conditions, and the decision was made by the Notary Council, while their decision was made by the minister of justice – Lovrin stressed, adding that she herself fought to have the recruitment of notaries accessible to a wider number of people.

- The media informed that to receive notary licenses is a real bingo at the lottery – Lovrin stated. Anticevic-Marinovic replied, stating that the nomination of notaries is a clear example of political corruption.

- These criteria do not match with the standards of Europe, but with the Balkan gorge – Anticevi-Marinovic stated.
