FAQ / Can a Notary public notarize a document without a Notarial Certificate?

No, he/she can not, notarization is incomplete without notarial wording. It is not the notary’s role or obligation to decide what type of notarial act is needed for a given document. This is a legal decision. The signer should be asked to find out what kind of certificate is appropriate.
