NEWS / Border Patrol Seize 6 Tons of Marijuana worth $10 Million at Checkpoint

Falfurrias, Texas — U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias Station seized 119 bundles of marijuana on Saturday weighing more than 11,989 pounds.

During an immigration inspection at the checkpoint south of Falfurrias, Texas, a Border Patrol K-9 team alerted to the cargo area of a tractor trailer. A closer inspection of the trailer revealed boxes filled with bundles of marijuana with an approximate street value of $9,591,600.

“Our K-9 teams are one critical component in the detection of narcotics smuggling. Almost six tons of drugs were prevented from reaching our communities and most importantly, our children due to the diligence of these agents,” said Deputy Chief Patrol Agent John C. Pfeifer.

The Drug Enforcement Administration assumed custody of the driver, narcotics and the conveyance.
