NEWS / CBP Officers Arrest Tucsonan with $25,440 in Undeclared CurrencyNogales, Ariz. - Customs and Border Protection officers at the DeConcini port of entry were conducting routine screening of travelers leaving the United States when discovered $25,440 in undeclared currency hidden in a man’s groin area. On Thursday, September 10, CBP officers were screening travelers aboard a commercial bus leaving the United States when they selected a 32-year-old man from Tucson for inspection. The Tucsonan was traveling to Mexico. He declared to CBP officers he was carrying $5,000 in cash. Officers referred the man to secondary for verification of the money. In secondary, officers advised the man they would be conducting a search and they discovered additional money hidden in his groin area. A total of $25,440 of undeclared currency was discovered. The money was seized.
