NEWS / CBP Officers at the Hidalgo International Bridge Seized a Drug Load of Methamphetamine


Hidalgo, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge seized approximately 30.6 pounds of methamphetamine Sunday afternoon. The estimated street value of the methamphetamine is $458,997.

On Aug.7, 2011, a CBP officer working at the Hidalgo/Reynosa International Bridge referred to secondary a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis sedan for further inspection. The male driver was identified as a 47-year-old U.S. citizen from Pharr, Texas. While in secondary, officers seized 27 packages of alleged methamphetamine that were found within the vehicle’s dashboard area. CBP officers seized the vehicle as well.

The driver was transferred to the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations (ICE-HSI) for further investigation.

Efrain Solis Jr., Acting CBP Port Director, Hidalgo/Pharr said, “Our frontline officers continue doing great enforcement work and this is an example of the quality work our officers are doing to secure our nation’s borders and the communities in which we live.” Solis further said, “I commend our officers for a job well done.”
