U.S. Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that Daniel Red Horse, Jr., age 41, of Eagle Butte, appeared before U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange on January 19, 2012, and pled guilty to count two of the indictment that charged him with sexual contact. The maximum penalty upon conviction is two years’ imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and five years of supervised release.

The conviction stems from a report on March 31, 2011, in which the Cheyenne River Sioux Department of Social Services received information that a minor had disclosed that the minor had been sexually abused by Daniel Red Horse, Jr. in 2009.
