NEWS / Female Homicide Suspect Taken into Custody by Border Patrol

Suspect Claimed to be Illegal Alien to Avoid Detection

San Ysidro, Calif. — A female wanted in Los Angeles on suspicion of homicide and attempted murder was apprehended this morning by United States Border Patrol agents during a southbound border vehicle inspection.

At about 8 a.m., agents stopped a commercial transport van to conduct an inspection. A 24-year-old female passenger in the van claimed to be a Mexican Citizen illegally in the U.S. The woman was then detained and transported to a Border Patrol station for processing.

Fingerprint checks revealed that the woman was actually a U.S. citizen who had an outstanding warrant for homicide and attempted murder in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed the warrant as valid and recently issued on September 14. Detectives from the LAPD later took custody of the suspect.

The suspect informed Border Patrol agents that she claimed to be an illegal alien because she was expecting the agents to simply allow her to enter into Mexico without the warrant being detected.

This is the latest significant arrest demonstrating the unified effort by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agencies. This last weekend CBP officers apprehended three fugitives with homicide warrants.
