NEWS / Foreigners should study new rules of their stay in Russia

MOSCOW, January 14 (Itar-Tass) - The Russian Foreign Ministry recommends that foreigners should study rules of their stay in Russia in connection with the new law "On legal position of foreign citizens in the Russian Federation???, entering into force on January 15.

The ministry gives an advice to observe recommendations which ???will help to avoid many difficulties and unpleasant situations???. For instance foreign citizens should pay attention that ???when entering the Russian Federation, foreigners should fill out an immigration form, confirming the right to a temporary stay in the country in cases when a visa is not necessary???.

Foreign citizens, living in Russia permanently or temporarily, ???are subject to registration by the place of their residence or to recording by the place of their stay???. The Russian Federal Migration Service noted that ???citizens that arrived in Russia for a period of no more than three days, are not subject to registration by the place of their residence???. ???All procedures on putting on registration and taking off from registration are imposed on the receiving side,??? the service emphasized.

To get a temporary residence permit, foreigners should turn to a territorial body of the Federal Migration Service. It is important to remember that ???it is necessary to submit documents to a territorial body of the Federal Migration Service (within 30 days since the day of tendering an application on issuing a temporary residence permit), confirming the absence of drug addiction and infectious diseases???.

Besides, it is necessary within one year since the day of the entry to Russia ???to submit a certificate on registration at a tax body to a territorial body of the Federal Migration Service???. Those who fail to receive a temporary residence permit, or authorities decide to make null and void an earlier issued permit, receive an appropriate notification.

???This decision can be appealed at the Federal Migration Service or at court of law within three days since the day of receiving such a document,??? the migration service noted.

The service underlined that ???a temporarily or permanently living foreigner is duty-bound to tender annually a notification on confirmation of his stay in Russia to a territorial body of the Federal Migration Service???.

After receiving a temporary or permanent residence permit, a foreign citizen ???is duty-bound to register at a place of his residence within seven working days???.
