NEWS / Matthew Perry’s cause of death revealed in death certificate

The death certificate of Friends star Matthew Perry has been released listing “deferred” as his cause of death. This means that the exact cause of death will be issued sometime in the future pending the conclusion of further investigation and toxicology reports. Perry was found dead in his home in Los Angeles on October 28.

The death certificate, which was retrieved and published by The Blast, confirms that Perry had been in the “Entertainment” industry for 38 years and lists the actors step-father, Keith Morrison, as the informant. The document also states that the star was laid to rest at Forest Lawn in Los Angeles.

Perry was found drowned in his jacuzzi by the actor’s assistant. He had previously been seen playing a 2-hour game of pickleball. Authorities that picked up his body revealed at the time that there was no suspicion of foul play and that no illegal drugs had been found around him. Authorities did, however, discover prescription anti-depressant and anti-anxiety medication, as well as a prescription drug used to treat Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Experts are expected to perform a blood test to determine if any substances were involved in the actor’s death.

Perry’s family, along with his Friends co-stars Lisa Kudrow, Jennifer Aniston, Dave Schwimmer, Courtney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc, all issued a statement expressing their devastation over this “unfathomable loss”. On November 3, Perry was laid to rest at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles in a funeral ceremony attended by his sisters, mother, and all of his Friends co-stars except LeBlanc.
