NEWS / New stickers on papers for studies, jobs abroad

NEW DELHI: Those bound overseas with a job or seeking a job will need apostille stickers for their personal and educational documents to be valid abroad. The ministry of external affair’s CPV division at Patiala House, New Delhi, will start issuing such stickers from Wednesday.

According to an MEA press release, apostille stickers will be issued on certificates — personal such as birth and death, affidavits, power of attorney, and marriage certificate, as wells educational documents such as degrees, diplomas, matriculation and secondary level certificates.

However, there will be no apostilles for commercial documents which are not covered by the Apostille Convention.
The relevant documents will first need to be attested by the home departments/general administration departments of the state concerned in case of personal documents, and regional authentication centres for educational documents. Only after that will MEA issue apostilles for these documents at a designated fee of Rs 50.
