NEWS / CBP Officers in Texas Intercept Woman for Alleged Violations of Immigration Law

Brownsville, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers at the Brownsville port of entry intercepted a woman for alleged violations of immigration law related to the alleged attempted illegal entry into the country of a 16-year-old female Mexican child.

On Tuesday, July 6, at Los Indios International Bridge a 29-year-old female applied for admission to enter the United States as the driver of a white 2002 Ford F-150. At CBP primary the female driver presented entry documentation for a minor child passenger. The primary CBP officer noted discrepancies with the entry document and referred the subjects for a secondary inspection. In secondary, CBP officers used a CBP database and discovered that the birth certificate was not issued to the person for whom it was presented. CBP officers determined the minor child to be a Mexican citizen with no legal documents to enter or reside in the United States.

CBP officers took the woman into custody and charged her with alleged violations of immigration law. CBP officers seized the documents, vehicle and returned the minor child to Mexico.

“CBP officers have intercepted the Katy, Texas woman who allegedly presented a U.S. birth certificate in an alleged attempted illegal entry into the country of a 16-year-old female Mexican child,” said Michael Freeman, CBP director of field operations, Brownsville Texas. “I congratulate our officers for stopping this alleged attempted immigration violation as they continue to enforce our immigration laws.”
